We use only professional equipment and trolleys that can manage either smooth or rough terrain, such as lawns or gravel.

We are careful

As well as having goods in transit insurance and public liability cover, we take the utmost care not to damage walls, floors or thresholds as well as taking care of your precious instrument.

Planning

Before we can give you an accurate quote please clarify exactly the layout of the terrain that is en-route to your pianos final destination i.e. if there are steps up into the house, how many and any other obstacles that may be a problem. It is very important that this is accurate so we can arrange the necessary manpower and equipment necessary for the move. Please make clear any parking arrangements that we need to know about. The route to the final destination must be cleared and any problem areas such as doors that need to be removed should be dealt with before we arrive. Additional charges may apply if we have to remove doors or other obstacles.

Piano Disposal and Recycling

Disposal

Pianos do not last forever.  Unlike a Stradivarius violin they do not get better with age as they are mechanical objects and they do wear out.  It is a sad day but the most responsible thing to do with a piano that is at the end of its life is to recycle it.

Recycling

If the piano is in working order (all the keys play as they should), it will be shipped to Thailand or South Korea where it will undergo some renovation and continue its life over there. If the piano is unserviceable it will be taken back to our workshop where any parts that are still serviceable are stripped and used to renovate other pianos.  The case and frame are separated into wood and metal. The wood goes off to become hardboard and MDF and the metal is weighed in for re-use.
