Micrometer/Vernier size conversions for centre pins and MWG
The traditional sizing of centre pins is based on the old British Music Wire Gauge sizes, rather than the German Music Wire Gauge, which is used for piano wire. These gauges are slightly different from one another, hence a no. 23 centre pin is a different diameter from no. 23 steel piano wire.
